Staff Accountant

The Staff Accountant is responsible for the provision of accurate information to various levels of management staff, including analysis and operational reporting. The Staff Accountant assists the CFO in maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures as well as the preparation of financial and operational reports.

Responsibilities:

  • Complete quarterly and monthly reporting for lending institutions and bonding companies
  • Preparation and completion of multiple year end file working paper files of various companies and partnerships
  • Consolidations of various companies and partnerships
  • Prepare monthly financial statements for multiple entities including supporting back up documentation from a variety of sources
  • Process government remittances for various companies
  • Prepare corporate tax returns, including all required supporting schedules for various corporations
  • Prepare Partnership Information Returns along with required supporting schedules, complete and distribute T5013s. Complete T5s, T3s when required. Prepare T5018 Information Return
  • Prepare monthly job cost reports for all divisions
  • Various other assignments and preparation of reports as assigned by the CFO
  • Other related duties as required or assigned

Requirements:

  • Ability to read, understand, and speak English at a university level
  • Experience in Caseware
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel are required
  • Ability to enter data and submit queries on database ERP system
  • Ability to work independently and as a team
  • Relationship management skills in order to comfortably and effectively interact with all levels of internal staff, clients, and government officials are required
  • Communication skills (facilitation, listening, verbal, written, presentation, negotiation)
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Knowledge of accounting principles
  • Responsible, reliable, and ability to keep information confidential
  • University or college education with a focus in Business/Accounting
  • 2 years experience in a similar role preferred
  • CPA Designation
